Parents, what are your children?

by William Wilson on September 28, 2009

No, not who are your children. What are your children?

Are they young persons who need your care, love and guidance?

Or are they a piece of property to be argued over, as if they are a toy that two school children want to have at the same time.

Are they young persons with hopes, dreams, and fears, who laugh when happy and cry when sad?

Or are they weapons to be used to hurt someone else?

If you think of your children, do you think they will be better off being treated as a toy or a weapon, or being treated as someone who laughs and cries, who needs your love and care?

Are your actions and words consistent with your answer to the preceding question?

If not, why not, and are you willing to change so you can say “yes” to that question?

If not, why not?
